According the San Francisco Chronicle, Hershey announced on Tuesday its plans to close its two Bay Area Sharffen Berger facilities in Berkeley and San Francisco. Sharffen Berger will now only produce their sweets in their Illinois location. While you can still purchase Sharffen Berger chocolate, it will no longer be made locally.
Sharffen Berger, the Bay Area says goodbye to you!

I heard this is also true for Joseph Schmidt, who, along with Scharffen Berger, was bought out by Hershey’s in 2005.
Tis true…..the recession is causing chocolate to leave us.
Adios Scharffen Berger…I’ve loved you for so long.
OH NO!!! I’m devastated!! I’ve been on their factory tour an embarrassing number of times. Maybe I’ll have one last go at it!
