10 Things You Love to Hate About Valentine’s Day: Kids with a Sugar High

by Jamie Walker on February 13, 2009

Sweethearts, heart shaped chocolate boxes and candies are an age old tradition for Valentine’s Day.  I remember waking up on Valentine’s Day when I was a kid and getting a few little treats from my mom - usually chocolate boxes, candy hearts and a card.  Then it would be off to school with my backpack full of cards for everyone in my class plus more candy that I would later hand out and exchange with my classmates.  It was  usually a very wasted school day filled with anticipation for more and more sugar.

If you’re a parent and trying to avoid giving your kids the ultimate sugar high this Valentine’s Day, try a fun, unique and healthy gift idea with customized cereal from [Me] and Goji.  Its easy to make and so fun - just go online, pick from a variety of organic and all-natural ingredients like  granola, mueMe and Goji, cerealsli, goldenberry and chocolate covered goji and drag and drop them into your virtual cereal box.   As you design the insides of your cereal box, the nutritional information and price will update as well so you know exactly what’s going into your cereal and how much you’re paying for it.  Once your satisfied with your mix, you get to name it!  You could go with something as simple as the “Happy Valentine’s Day Joey Mix” to as fun as “Dora the Cereal Explorer” (my niece is super into that cartoon).  I have to admit, when my cereal canister arrived with “I Like Granola But I Love Goji” on it, I was almost more excited about seeing my cereal name on the canister than the cereal itself (and its extremely delicious!).

[Me] and Goji is not only a great Valentine’s gift idea but a healthy habit the whole family will love!  Start customizing and healthing up your cereal - replace those Fruit Loops and Cocao Puffs - and give your kids a head start on a happy, healthy life.
