At the Fancy Food Show, I was introduced to La Vita Health Foods‘ new line of healthy cookies - they have a low gylcemic index, are prebiotic, vegan and kosher, cholestrol, wheat, dairy and lactose free. They are perfect for kids, adults or people with special dietary needs. These delicious little cookies contain no high fructose corn syrup, maltitol, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives and still have a year-long shelf life. And best of all, they’re very high in fiber.
“We wanted to create a cookie that everyone could eat,” said Zina Minz, founder of La Vita Health Foods. “Until now, most healthy, high-fiber cookies simply have not been very enjoyable to eat. Our cookies are not only healthy and suitable for everyone, but they also have a homemade taste and fresh-baked texture that melts in your mouth.”
La Vita uses a unique soy flour recipe and baking processes that allow them to create a nutritious alternative to traditional store bought cookies. They come in eight varieties including Poppy Seed, Peanut Butter, Cajun, Chocolate (my personal favorite), Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, Raspberry Lemon, and Almond.
If you’re celiac, diabetic or just looking for a healthier alternative to baked goods, try La Vita. Rumor has it, they aren’t stopping at cookies - we may see breads and other baked goods in the future.
