My KIND of Energy Bar

by jamie on April 7, 2009

I’m not usually the biggest fan of energy bars; most of them are just candy bars in disguise.  But, KIND bars are everything a candy bar is not - they are delicious snacks for a heart-healthy diet.  They are loaded with peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, and walnuts along with dried fruit, pear juice, honey, and puffed rice.  They come in Macadamia & Almond, Almond & Coconut, Walnut & Date, Sesame & Peanut with Chocolate, Banana & Oatbran, Fruit & Nut Delight, Almonds & Apricot in Yogurt and many more.  Calorie counts range from 150 to 225 per bar, and sugar from 7.8 grams to 17.4. KIND Bars

They also recently introduced KIND Plus which are enhanced with calcium, antioxidants, protein and Omega-3’s in six new distinctive flavors like Cranberry & Almond, Almond & Cashew, Strawberry Nut Delight, Mango Macadamia, Passion Fruit Macadamia, and Almond Walnut & Macadamia.  If you haven’t already, you’ve gotta try the Strawberry Nut Delight - its fabulous!

KIND is presently sold in nearly every major retail and grocery chain in the United States and as a bonus, five percent of profits go to promoting world peace through PeaceWorks Foundation.

You are so right when you say, “most of them are just candy bars in disguise.” I’m in the habit of looking at the nutrition facts of every food I buy and it’s just amazing to see the fat and sugar content on the back of most of these new energy bars….they should be considered “crash bars!” But there are those that do live up to their names but you just cannot trust a label anymore.
