I am in love with quinoa and use it in almost everything - baking, cooking, blending, whatever, I’ll take it. The funny thing is, I find that most people in San Francisco have heard of quinoa; maybe they’ve never tried it but they probably have a vague idea of what it is. Outside of San Francisco, I’m not so sure it has caught on as quickly…
Recently, I was telling my mom about my love for quinoa and after she stared at me blankly for a good five minutes, I realized I could’ve been speaking in a foreign language. She asked, “is it some kind of cookie?” Um, not really, but it tastes great in cookies! After explaning what it was, I encouraged her to try some. While she didn’t seem overly enthused about her first experience, I am glad that I at least introduced her to the wonderful world of grains - there is more to life than rice. Next time, I think I need to prepare it for her. I have a feeling she didn’t really know what to do with it.
And, I’m not writing this merely to ramble on about my love or my mom’s first experience with quinoa. While that’s extremely interesting to everyone, the real reason I am writing is because together, Whole Foods and quinoa really rock my world. If you haven’t already heard, Whole Foods is conducting a one millionth Twitter follower contest — and the prize? You guessed it: QUINOA!
I’m not even sure I should be writing this - by encouraging all of you to enter, I probably lessen my own chances of winning. Oh well, here goes being a team player.

Whatever you do, don’t make your Tweet about it more clever than mine.
