The Kentucky Fried Vegetarian

by jamie on July 13, 2009

I was reading  this month’s issue of Real Simple over the weekend and one of the reader comments discussing secret guilty pleasures caught my eye.  It read something like this, “I’m a vegetarian but about once every month, I sit in my car where no one can see me and eat a full bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken.”  Ok, number one you are NOT a vegetarian if you eat KFC.  Even if it is once a month.  Not only is KFC completely foul, but it is meat.  Extra points because it comes in a large greasy bucket.  And number two, if you are eating something that requires you to hide from others, you probably shouldn’t be eating it at all.

Every time I think of KFC, I think of that obnoxious commercial where a really hot blonde girl is at a party and bites into a KFC chicken wing that sends her mouth a “blast” of flavor.  She goes into chicken euphoria, an almost orgasmic state that sends all the guys at the party over to her side.  Its not the hot girl having an orgasm over chicken that gets me, its the concept of the flavor blast.  It always made me think that KFC was doing to chicken what Gushers did for gummy snacks.  Like you’d receive a warm blast of ooey gooey surprise with every bite.  Gross.

For other gross fast food follies, you have to check out Peter Hartlaub’s post on The Poop last week.  It discusses some of the more “creative” fast food menu items (complete with photos) - think Volcano Tacos and Bacon Cheeseburger Pizzas.

Want a side of fries with that?

If you’re going to cheat on your vegetarian diet, why in the world would you go with kfc?! Sounds like anxiety, not suppressed love for greasy meat substitute, is the issue that person is dealing with!
