I’m starting to think that I truly do get better with age. Screw the laugh lines, the crow’s feet, and all those other little works of art on my face; after the past two weekends, I’m thinking that getting older really isn’t all that bad! If every birthday came with good food, good wine, amazing company and spa treatments, I’d never look back. For my first birthday weekend (yes, there were two), Bryan whisked me away to Calistoga for a romantic surprise birthday weekend and it was just what the doctor ordered.
Our adventure started at Sol Bar, a Wine Enthusiast favorite restaurant where we indulged on mushroom pizza, chickpea stew and a bottle of Joel Gott Zin. Delish! We loved the restaurant so much, we didn’t even manage to get photos of the food. But here we are finishing our bottle of wine on the couches….aren’t we cute?
The next day, we went for a nice little run down Silverado Trail. Obviously, I kept losing Bryan while he was doing paparazzi duty….
Next, we had breakfast provided by our adorable little Hideaway Cottages - holy muffins!!
After I had a happy tummy, we were off to Indian Springs for a mud bath, a massage and a soak in the mineral pool. Bliss.
And lastly, wine tasting. Lots and lots of wine tasting where we met the coolest and biggest dog ever, Judge.
And lastly, appetizers and cocktails at Auberge du Soleil where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset, a delicious cheese plate and a beautiful portabello mushroom, squash and farro dish. Seriously, so good.
Who says getting older has to suck?

I love getting older too. I was one of those kids who couldn’t wait to be a grownup and now that I am, it’s fabulous.
everything sounds amazing!
