Toot, Toot!

by jamie on November 11, 2009

I’ve learned that there are certain times in life when you have to toot your own horn. Even if the thought of broadcasting your awesomeness turns your stomach in knots and makes you so nervous that pit stains start to form, there are certain things that deserve to be shouted from every rooftop, every Facebook page, every Tweet.  And this just might be one of them.

And maybe this is only exciting to me because I am a geeky healthy food blogger who gets excited by discovering a new way to bake vegan cookies, new ways to use hemp seed, and finds joy in spending Saturdays alone with my food processor, but here goes anyway. Yours truly and ilikegranola were in Forbes.com Forbes Woman this week.  [Insert extremely bright red cheeks here].

Check it out! Thanks for all the support you’ve shown me already on Facebook and Twitter. If you don’t already follow me, you SHOULD! @ilikegranola.

Here’s an excerpt: phpTFAWeZ

“Lucky for us gift-givers, ladies included, money doesn’t seem to be much of an issue when it comes to what women really want for the holidays. After talking to hundreds of professional women–from work-at-home moms to 80-hour-a-week attorneys–ForbesWoman noticed a resounding theme: Women want more time….

Jamie Walker agrees–to a point. A San Francisco-based PR manager who juggles a full-time job, a popular healthy living blog, and is starting a fitness bootcamp in her area, Walker’s idea of time is a little more me-oriented. “What I really want is a break,” she says, “Just time to sit back, relax, enjoy a good book, go to a yoga class, or even just go on a long walk. I feel like I have been running around like crazy this past year–I find that I just don’t have much time for me anymore.”

Walker isn’t alone. In fact, personal time for relaxation and fitness figured high on our responses, especially from new moms (Heather Bennett, a marketing executive in New York, would love a few extra hours a week for a guilt-free workout).”

So awesome! Congrats! And what you said is so true - we all need more time! You must have people lining up around the block for bootcamp!

Hi Jamie!

I just discovered your blog when I went on a search for brussels and sunchokes (who knew I wasn’t the first to consider combining those?) and I love your entries and outlook. I’m adding you to my faves over at http://www.bokchoybohemia.com and I’d love it if you’d check out my litter corner of the web too!
