I’ve been a total slacker on the blog front this week but that’s only because work took over my life. My crazyness started on Monday on my return home from Amarillo, Texas where we had the most delightful girl’s weekend with my grandma for her big birthday. I’m not allowed to display her age online but its a big one. :)
Anyway, Alyse and I are brilliant - we somehow missed our connecting flight in Vegas. And not because we were out gambling, doing shooters, or dancing the night away - we were just sitting there eating these disgusting veggie bowls and talking in our newly acquired Texas accents. We weren’t even drinking wine - we had NO excuse.
And of course, there was no more availability on any flights to SFO so we jumped on a standby flight to Oakland which would’ve been great if our bags weren’t going to SFO. So from the Oakland airport we had to catch Bart and take an hour long Bart ride to SFO to pick up our bags and then split a cab home. So much for travelling cheap. Ugh! I actually never even went home. I just had the cab drop me off at my office so I could go in and get some work done. Nice thing is that almost nobody was in the office that late…kind of.
As for good ole Amarillo, this little lady had a good darn tootin time. I have never really experienced Texas before, not like this anyway. We had so much fun - even with our completely crazy spa experience and of course, we ate so much good food (my family’s fave pasttime).
Delicious homemade vegan chili with black beans, corn, cashews, and veggies galore and my aunt’s famous english toffee….and a little bday cake to top it all off! Woooo weeee!

The best part of the trip had to be learning to Texas Two Step. Who knew dancing in a circle with ya partner could be so darn fun?
Me and my gramps dancin the night away!
