About Me

jamiegranolaWelcome to ilikegranola!

My name is Jamie Walker and I live and work in beautiful San Francisco. I’m an avid ultra-marathoner, amateur chef, and all around health nut.

I have always been aware of what I eat and have been fascinated by the history of nutrition, people’s relationships with food and their bodies, and overall health. The reason I started this blog was to talk about food, health, and diet in a  healthy way, to review products that claim to be good for you and share recipes as well as opinions on diets, food and lifestyles.

That being said, this isn’t a diet blog. I don’t believe in dieting. So, if you’re looking to cut carbs, or survive on cabbage or lemon water alone, this isn’t the blog for you. If you’re looking to develop a  healthy relationship with food and your body, you’re in the right place!

Email me at ilikegranola@gmail.com, follow me on Twitter @ilikegranola and find me on FoodBuzz.

Cute picture! Your bio really sums up your attitude about food and health, and I know from experience that you practice what you preach. Your message is exactly what our fad-dieting, celebrity-crazed culture needs: a balanced, non-gimmicky approach to living well. Keep up the good work!

Jamie! I LOVE THIS SITE! I haven’t had time to go deep enough to see if you’ve read “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall, but if you haven’t - YOU MUST! It’s basically written about people like you!!

I love your philosophy and am SO jealous that you’re an ultra marathoner. That’s totally what I aspire to be!

Hi Jaime, thanks for finding my blog and stopping by and sayin hi! I love these 3 things about you: I’m an avid ultra-marathoner, amateur chef, and all around health nut. I wouldnt say I am an ultramarathoner, but I do love physical fitness and am a registered yoga teacher. Lately I feel like an amateur (raw) chef, and I am a health nut too!

Hi Jamie,
I would like to know your opinion of the products put out by Shaklee? Please let me know what you think of the laundry detergent, dish soap, cleaning supplies and accessories?

Love the recipes and your focus and healthy eating, exercise and a positive attiutude vs. the diet roller coaster. I will definitely be making many of your recipes. I especially love the “slaws”. I am a lover of cabbage.

Love your site! I have to admit that I have a slight granola addiction, so when I saw the name of your blog, I knew I’d enjoy it :) I have very similar interests in and approaches to healthy living/diet/balance, not to mention SF is one of my very favorite cities (went to Berkeley for undergrad). Look forward to following you!

Hey Jamie! I just found your blog and really love it. Great eats and insights! I could also say I’m a health nut though I JUST started running. I’ve always been super active though with dance, gymnastics, biking, and now yoga. I’m also vegan and love delicious healthy food!
I’ll be in San Francisco from the 21st to the 26th for a diabetes conference my company is interpreting for and I’d love to try some of the amazing vegan friendly places around there. I”ll be with my parents who are not too fond of anything “strange” but I’m sure I can get them to test something different at least one night. What would you recommend for my one vegan meal?
Also, since I’m in the middle of training for a 10 k, what are some good places I might be able to jog a bit without having to do too many hills?

Thanks! Very happy to add you on my reader :)
